Psychiatrist MD

Dr. Arif Noorbaksh

Let's create a plan that helps you thrive.

In our first session together, we’ll spend time getting a detailed understanding of your history, starting from childhood through to the present. I like to take a broad view, considering everything from biological factors and concurrent medical diagnoses to lived experiences and previous treatments. After gathering this information, we’ll use the last portion of the session to collaborate on a personalized treatment plan that might include medications, evidence-based supplements, therapy, lifestyle and behavioral changes, and possibly interventional treatments. My goal is to ensure that the treatment plan we create together truly reflects your unique needs and circumstances.

My love for psychiatry stems from my fascination with neuroscience and my passion for engaging deeply with patients. I first became interested in the brain while studying the neurobiology of cocaine addiction during my time at UT Austin, and I found psychiatry to be the perfect blend of science and patient-centered care. I truly value the time I spend with my patients, learning about their achievements, struggles, and what has shaped their mental health.

If you’re dealing with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, or other issues, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to build a treatment plan that addresses your mental health comprehensively and thoughtfully.

A little bit more about my background

I’m a board-certified psychiatrist with a passion for taking a whole-person approach to mental health care. My training in psychiatry included a strong emphasis on psychotherapeutic modalities, and I combine that with my background in neuroscience to provide comprehensive care. I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Austin, my MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston McGovern School of Medicine, and completed my residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my two dogs—an Australian shepherd and a Blue Heeler mix. I also enjoy woodworking, home improvement projects, and gardening. Personally, I have faced mental health challenges myself, and I’m an advocate for reducing the stigma around mental health care. This personal connection drives my passion for what I do and informs the care I provide.
