At Therapath we employ psychiatrists (MDs) and psychiatric nurse practitioners (PMHNPs). All of our MDs and PMHNPs are board certified. These types of medical providers can see you for a mental health medical appointment and prescribe medications as well as assist in comprehensive treatment planning.
We also employ clinical psychotherapists. Typically they are either licensed professional counselors (LPCs) or licensed clinical social workers (LCSWs). If you would like to discuss medication along with therapy, or already have been referred to Continuity Mental Health for that purpose, book your first session with a psychiatry provider.
If you would like to attend a counseling session first, then book with one of our psychotherapists. Both LPC and LCSW qualify.
If you are unsure which treatment modalities may be helpful, we recommend booking with a psychiatry provider to start. Either way, at Continuity Mental Health, you have access to both and our team works together to ensure you have the treatment plan that is appropriate for you.
To book an appointment head to our homepage and click "Book Your First Appointment" in the menu.
From there you can select a provider and a time that meets your needs.
IMPORTANT select "no" when asked if you are an existing patient to ensure that you are able to fill out all the mandatory fields to start an account with us.
If you have been scheduled for a Therapath appointment then you already have portal access and should use the existing patient portal for all scheduling needs.
In doctor-speak, a referral is when a primary care provider (PCP), family doctor, or general practitioner refers you to see a specialist. For some people this is an important step in ensuring their insurance will cover the specialist care under the terms stated in their policy.
Sometimes this is necessary for psychiatry or psychotherapy depending on your policy.
If you are concerned that you may not get the coverage you need without a referral from your primary doctor, call the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask them specifically if you need a referral to see a psychiatrist or a psychotherapist that accepts your insurance.
A little apprehension before an appointment is absolutely normal! We all get a little nervous before doing something new, and when our health is in the mix the anxious feelings can be heightened.
What's important to know is that the step you are taking to support your mental wellbeing is a great thing to do.
From a young age most of us are introduced to 'going to the doctor' for our aches, pains, ailments, injuries and for physical check-ups as a totally normal part of being human. However many of us don't see someone to discuss our mental health or get a mental health check-up until much later in life.
While that reality is changing slowly, we totally understand that it may seem like a new idea to consider mental health as part of your healthcare routine.
Checking in on your brain, mood, behaviors, and emotions is not only a normal thing to do, but also very beneficial - just like going to the doctor for a physical illness.
Telling your provider how you're feeling about your appointment is actually really great information to share. They want to know about your experience and building rapport with your provider is part of a mental wellness journey. You can start by letting them know how you feel about booking the appointment.
Our clinicians are experienced professionals, and they're also everyday people - putting on their pants one leg at a time too. No one is here to judge you, and in fact, they probably think you're taking a very valuable step.
Yes! At Therapath we are glad to say we accept insurance. We are adding more options to our practice regularly. Check our homepage for a list of insurance carriers and feel free to send us a message if you don't see your insurance listed.
Currently we are in-network with Aetna, Cigna United Healthcare, BlueCross BlueShield, ChampVA, Magellan, Sana, Sendero, and Medicare and many others.
We will be in network with Tricare West shortly.
You may also consider utilizing FSA or HSA accounts, and we do have self-pay options. We can provide superbills for submission to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Please call our office if you want or need a payment option that is not through your insurance.
Everyone's insurance coverage is different.
The first thing to do is find out if we accept the insurance you have. The next thing is to understand your policy, including your deductibles, copays, and what your policy covers. The best way to do this is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask them a few questions. This will prepare you to better understand payment for mental healthcare.
Payment for all services at Therapath are your responsibility. If you are concerned about your ability to pay, communicate with us. We're here to help.
Co-pays will be collected at your appointment. We will then bill your insurance. Any remaining balances will be your responsibility. If your coverage runs out, you policy changes, or you otherwise are responsible for more than you anticipated, reach out to us. We are here to help find the best payment options for you to continue care.
Email us and set up a time to discuss your payments over the phone.
If it comes to a point where we refer you to another provider or you need help finding options elsewhere, we are committed to supporting you through that process as well.
Similar to many telehealth companies, you will be asked to place a credit card on file during initial registration. This information is not accessible to us for security purposes, but it is used to charge any necessary copays or coinsurance. We are required to collect these charges by your insurance company. Prior to any charges, you will receive both a text message and patient portal message informing you of pending charges.
The vast majority of our patients prefer to leave a card on file to automatically handle any charges related to their care. However, we understand that there may be circumstances in which patients prefer not to leave a card on file. In these cases, please call our office directly to register and schedule your first appointment. Any copays or coinsurance related to visits will be sent as an invoice to your patient portal account, and we ask that these bills be paid in a reasonable amount of time as part of our relationship of mutual respect. Failure to pay these bills in a reasonable amount of time may jeopardize our ability to continue providing you with care.
Yes. If you prefer to pay outside of using insurance, you may. We offer rate transparency with our current rates as follows:
Psychiatry Intake $300
Psychiatry Follow Up $175
Psychotherapy Intake $175
Psychotherapy Follow Up $150
We also have therapy at sliding scale with our Associates for those that qualify. Please email info@therapathmentalhealth.com for information.
Login into your patient portal. You will also be sent reminders via text and email. Be sure to have accurate phone and email on file, and allow for communication from these channels. Your reminders will include secure telehealth links and if you have trouble you can message your provider through your secure portal login.
There are 3 requirements for the location from which patients conduct their appointments:
While we do have patients who conduct their appointments from their vehicle, we require that the car be parked in a safe location to conduct the visit.
If you lost your login info click on the link to the Patient Portal in our navigation menu. Then use the email address attached to your account (if you are unsure which email address you used, do a search in your inbox for your welcome from our EHR which is called Charm.)
Then follow the instructions to conduct a password reset.
If none of the steps worked for you give us a call at the office, or send us an email. Please note that we can assist you in navigating your patient portal, but we cannot set a new password for you. You will need internet access and a valid email address to access your portal.
Per our financial policy, patients are required to cancel or reschedule their appointments at least 24 hours in advance by using their patient portal or by calling us directly.
Patients that fail to let us know about their need to reschedule, or no-show an appointment, are subject to a late cancellation or no-show fee of $100. This is a firm boundary to ensure proper care for our patient population. If you have questions about our no show policy please send us a message at info@therapathmentalhealth.com.
Yes, we do for established patients, and there is no additional charge.
However, we only complete these documents at the providers discretion if indicated.
This service is only for established, and not new patients.
Our team has expertise treating a wide array of mental health conditions. However, there are a few circumstances in which we would not be able to provide care.
We do not treat children individually, but some of our therapists do offer family counseling.
We do not treat patients whose primary diagnosis is a substance abuse disorder; programs that are tailored specifically to substance use disorders are a much better fit.
Patients with severe schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorders are taken on a case-by-case basis if demonstrating stability. However, these patients are often best served by programs that offer in-person and wrap around services such as case management which we cannot provide at this time.
We do not offer court-mandated care.
Therapath does provide treatment for patients with a diagnosis of ADHD. However, there are several aspects of our approach to ADHD diagnosis and treatment of which we would like patients to be aware.
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, and symptoms of these disorders become present in childhood when the brain is developing.
For adults struggling with difficulties in concentration and task management, and who do not have a preexisting diagnosis of ADHD, these symptoms are much more likely to be caused by symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. In patients who come to us with these symptoms, we will perform a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to rule out these conditions in addition to evaluating for ADHD.
If ADHD is confirmed, we generally require patients to trial non-stimulant medication options prior to proceeding with stimulant medications. Stimulants (examples include Adderall, Vyvanse, Ritalin, and Concerta, among many others) carry certain substantially higher risks in both the short and long term. As with any mental health condition, our goal is to find the least risky yet effective treatment for you.
In addition to medications for ADHD, our therapists have extensive experience in helping patients with ADHD identify behavioral, cognitive, and lifestyle interventions which can be very helpful in managing these symptoms. For many patients, this treatment modality can help them reduce medication dose or the need for medications altogether.
Unfortunately, our providers cannot provide emotional support letters for patients. There are many web-based services that will provide these letters for a nominal fee.
