You should be involved in your treatment planning.
I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
My approach to mental health is holistic, and I use the biopsychosocial model to better understand what might be contributing to your symptoms. This means I consider everything from your mental and physical health to your environment and lifestyle.
When we work together, you can expect a thorough and thoughtful assessment. Many of my patients have told me they appreciate how comfortable they feel during our sessions and that they never feel pressured to start medications they aren’t ready for. My goal is always to collaborate with you on a plan that feels right for you, whether that involves medication, therapy, or making healthy lifestyle changes like improving your diet, exercise routine, and self-care.
I have experience working with a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and women's mental health, including prenatal and postpartum care. My cultural background is half Mexican, which helps me better understand the stigma that sometimes comes with mental health issues in certain communities. I want to ensure that you feel heard and respected, no matter what your background may be.
I’m here to support you on your journey to better mental health, whether through medication management, therapy, or helping you adopt a healthier lifestyle. Together, we’ll find a plan that works for you.
A little bit more about my background.
I obtained undergraduate degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and my graduate degree from the University of Texas Health and Science Center Houston. Throughout my career, I have worked at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center on the thoracic and cardiovascular surgery unit, Menninger Clinic on the Professionals in Crisis Unit, Neuropsychiatric Center, Harris County Jail, Harris County Psychiatric Center, Heading Health, Mile High Psychiatry, and have provided psychiatric consult services to various nursing homes.
My interest in mental health started early, when I used to accompany my mom on her home visits. She worked as a parent mentor helping families in tough situations, and that experience showed me how life-changing the right mental health care can be.
Outside of work, I love to travel with my husband and three kids, spend time with family and friends, go to the beach, and unwind by watching scary movies or true crime documentaries.
