You didn’t start to argue all the time, pull back from your relationships, or reach for an extra glass (or 3) of wine a night because everything is going well. Likely, it’s because the season of life you’re in - or have been in - seems to keep knocking you down.
Now you’re here thinking about starting therapy and perhaps wondering if anything we do together will finally make a difference. You probably don’t need another piece of life advice, or someone telling you want you should be doing. Just like you, I’ve had my own struggles, and in part, that's what inspired me to pursue this line of work. I now first hand the difference that a patient, nonjudgemental confidante makes as you forge a new path. I'll get some skin in the game and tell you about me, answer any questions you have, and hopefully get a little roadmap together of where we will go on this journey with one another.
I received my Master's in Counseling and Development from Texas Womans University. I primarily use a client-centered, strengths-based approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation. I also value trauma-informed care and recognize the importance of addressing the underlying emotional, behavioral, and relational factors. I also draw from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Adlerian, Christian Counseling, Compassion Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Positive Psychology, Strengths-Based, and Gottman. I am happy to work from a Christian counseling perspective, or not. Whatever feels right for you.
If it feels right to approach your struggles as a couple, I'm happy to meet with partners who seek to find improved communication, respect, love, and intimacy.
Outside of the therapy room, I'm still just a small town Texas girl at heart. I enjoy spending time with my family including my husband, children and human-sized dogs, listening to good music, spending time in my community, and engaging with my faith. You might notice I have a few tattoos as well - feel free to ask me about my ink.
