It can be hard to see the world change around you, wishing you could take part in the happiness and growth, but you feel like you can't move forward. Loneliness, life tragedies, illness, and unexpected change can leave us stuck in our tracks. I became a clinical social worker to help people know that they are not alone and I am honored to be on their side.
When we start together we begin with your safety and resources in mind. I like to get to know you and your experience before we dive into problems and diagnoses. Once we've established rapport and you feel ready, we'll begin to unpack the reasons you came to therapy and collaborative develop a treatment plan that feels align with your values and goals.
I take a client-centered approach. This means that I won't dictate how therapy should go, but rather stay very focused on what your experience has been, validating and understanding your hardships and perspectives, and help you develop appreciation for the unique qualities and strengths that lie within you. I also draw upon techniques from motivational interviewing, CBT, DBT, solution-focused, and trauma-informed interventions. If you have a faith practice I also welcome you to bring that into therapy. I respect your beliefs and understand how spirituality offers comfort, hope, and inner strength.
